PacketRaven Portable 1G Copper RJ45 TAP

The PacketRaven Portable Copper (Network) to Copper (Monitoring) and TAP Copper (Network) to SFP (Monitoring) a is a high-performance, FPGA-based Network TAP designed for safe, lossless monitoring of 10M, 100M, and 1G RJ45 Ethernet links. Built for maximum reliability, it mirrors 100% of network traffic—including FCS/CRC errored packets that SPAN ports typically drop—without introducing latency or risking packet loss. The device operates completely invisibly on the network with no IP or MAC address, making it immune to hacking and ensuring compliance with the highest security requirements, including support for secure bootencrypted firmware, and an optional high-security version certified under IEC 62443 standards for critical infrastructure. The PacketRaven Portable 400G Multi-Mode Fiber TAP is engineered for next-generation high-speed network environments, supporting a wide range of network speeds including 1G, 2.5G, 5G, 10G, 25G, 40G, 50G, 100G, 200G, and 400G. Built on a safe and rock-solid FPGA-based design, it ensures zero packet lossultra-low latency, and 100% traffic visibility, including FCS/CRC errored packets that are often missed by SPAN ports. The PacketRaven Portable 1G Fiber Multi-Mode and Copper Hybrid TAP is purpose-built for versatile deployment in both fiber and copper network environments, supporting 100M Multimode 100Base-FX and 1G Multimode 1000Base-SX standards. Designed around a secure and robust FPGA-based architecture, it ensures zero packet lossultra-low latency, and 100% traffic mirroring, including critical FCS/CRC errored packets typically missed by SPAN ports. With support for breakoutaggregation, and regeneration modes, the TAP adapts seamlessly to different network monitoring requirements, while its Plug-n-Play configuration via DIP switches ensures fast and easy setup in any scenario.

PacketRaven Portable TAP Accessories

The PacketRaven Portable Network TAPs are designed with maximum versatility and mobility in mind, making them ideal for both temporary and permanent indoor and outdoor deployments. Out of the box, these units are fully operational for mobile use and require no additional accessories. However, for structured environments such as data centers and industrial plants, the TAPs can be conveniently installed in a standard 19” server rack using our dedicated server rack mounting frame, which accommodates multiple PacketRaven Portable TAPs side by side.
To secure the TAPs within the mounting frame, the rackmount frame mounting kit is required. Both items are available as accessories and allow for stable, professional installation that is space-efficient and organized.
As an alternative to rack installation, PacketRaven TAPs can also be mounted on TS35/7.5 DIN top-hat rails, commonly used in industrial and field environments. For this purpose, we offer a DIN rail mounting clip that allows easy and secure attachment. The clip is rotatable by 180°, providing flexibility to align the TAP’s ports according to specific installation requirements. This is particularly useful in space-constrained enclosures or when front-facing access is necessary.
Additionally, we provide custom Y-cables as part of the accessory lineup, enabling efficient and clean cable management in breakout or aggregation configurations. These cables are built to match the high-performance standards of PacketRaven TAPs, ensuring signal integrity and reliability in any deployment scenario. With all these mounting and connectivity options, PacketRaven Portable TAPs offer unmatched adaptability, enabling users to deploy them in mobile setups, secure rack environments, or rugged industrial systems without compromising performance or accessibility.

To install our portable TAPs in a server rack, you need our server rack mounting frame with item number PRP-1U3-V2, as well as a rackmount frame mounting kit (item number PRP-1U3-CLIP) for the TAP.

The server rack mounting frame PRP-1U3-V2 provides space for up to 3 portable PacketRaven Network TAPs.

Both components are available as accessories.
